Gilead’s therapeutic areas of focus include HIV/ AIDS, liver diseases, serious respiratory and cardiovascular conditions, cancer and inflammation, headquartered in Foster City, California.  As a Research Scientist / Senior Research Scientist, you will join the Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group in research, working closely with biology, protein biochemistry, toxicology, clinical pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, and regulatory to optimize leads, to select biologic candidates for clinical evaluation, and contribute to IND/ IMPD and NDA/ BLA filings.

Specific Responsibilities:


The primary responsibility of this Biologics DMPK Scientist position is to serve as a DMPK project representative on biologics discovery and development project teams.


Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:

  • You will serve as subject matter expert on dynamic cross-functional teams to define DMPK strategy to achieve target product profiles and provide biologics PK and PK-PD data interpretation.
  • You will prepare study protocols and coordinate execution of PK-PD studies which may involve multiple functional areas and CROs.
  • You will design and perform complex PK analysis, model development and PK-PD analysis to answer translational questions in support of project deliverables.
  • You will work closely with project teams, line management and CROs to assure high quality and timely delivery of written reports for regulatory submissions.
  • You may be required to supervise associate scientists.



  • Requires a highly motivated individual with good oral and written skills and a PhD degree in pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, pharmacology/toxicology, immunology, or related life science field with 2+ years in large molecule development.
  • Must demonstrate independent scientific thinking with the ability to interpret results, determine next steps and present data to project teams and senior management.
  • Experience in the application of routine PK, PK-PD and physiological based PK modeling software systems such as Phoenix/ WinNonlin, MATLAB/ Simbiology, NONMEM, R, or similar is required.
  • Familiarity or hands-on experience in large molecule bioanalytical techniques (ELISA, MSD, Gyros, LC-MS, or similar) is desired.
