Senior/ Principal Scientific Researcher in Purification group supporting Discovery Chemistry

Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated team player to support small molecule drug discovery at Genentech. The person is responsible for all aspects of purifying small molecules, short peptides and macrocycles, primarily using HPLC and SFC technologies. The successful candidate will develop achiral HPLC and SFC methods, document lab work in CDS, summarize and interpret data, troubleshoot instrument and method problems, interact with chemists to help support their projects and present findings at group meetings. Members of this team are expected to keep up to date with the latest methods and technologies. The successful candidate will accomplish our mission through innovation, teamwork, creative problem-solving, and through the use of state-of-the-art technology including HPLC, LC-MS, SFC and a variety of automation equipment.
Qualifications/Experience:
Candidates must have earned either a B.S./M.S. degree in Chemistry, or related fields, with at least 3 years experience in pharmaceutical industry with purification experience. Candidates must have good theoretical knowledge of analytical chemistry, hands on experience in chromatography (RP, NP, IE) and other analytical techniques (MS, NMR). Strong preference will be given to candidates with extensive purification experience, especially isolating macrocycles and short peptides, and with automation / computer programming experience. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills. Outstanding candidates with over 5 years of experience and strong publication record will be considered as a Principal Scientific Researcher.
