The company has introduced Oxbryta™ (voxelotor), the first FDA-approved treatment that directly inhibits sickle hemoglobin polymerization, the root cause of SCD. GBT is also advancing its pipeline program in SCD with inclacumab, a p-selectin inhibitor in development to address pain crises associated with the disease. In addition, GBT’s drug discovery teams are working on new targets to develop the next generation of treatments for SCD.

 

Position Summary:

The Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics Department at Global Blood Therapeutics is looking for a qualified Scientist with extensive experience in in vitro ADME assays and in vivo bioanalysis supporting PK, PK/PD and Tox studies.  The successful candidate will be responsible to characterize the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and pharmacokinetic properties of small molecule drug candidates for project teams spanning from early discovery to clinical stage development.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on DMPK assays including bioanalysis, in vitro ADME, and PK analysis
  • Perform discovery formulation support
  • Generate and upload assay data, communicate results/reports to multi-disciplinary project teams influencing compound progression in discovery and development
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary team, conduct biomarker assays
  • Maintain good electronic laboratory notebook record
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshoot as needed
  • Participate in the management of CROs for study request, execution, and timelines

 



Qualifications/Experience:

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. degree in drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics or relevant scientific fields
  • Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with qualitative/quantitative DMPK assays for in vitro ADME or in vivo PK studies
  • In-depth understanding of ADME-PK principles and the application of ADME-PK information supporting early discovery, lead optimization and/or development of candidate selection
  • Experiences in biologics development and PKPD modeling and simulation would be a plus
  • Good communication and organizational skills, excellent ability to work in a team-based environment are essential
