Spiral Therapeutics

Spiral Therapeutics is searching for an outstanding chemist to help develop and test drug delivery combination products from conceptualization to the clinic. As a key member of a small and growing team, this individual will directly impact a wide range of activities along the product development pathway and will collaborate directly with colleagues across multiple functions. The successful candidate will be creative and self-motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prepare novel formulations designed for controlled drug release

  • Perform in vitro testing of drug release and other functional performance properties

  • Analytical method development and sample processing with instrumentation such as HPLC, UV/VIS spectroscopy, and plate based assays to quantify drug content and assess drug stability

  • Apply knowledge of chemistry and understanding of the importance of critical steps when executing formulation and analytical work; contribute to formulation optimization

  • Write test procedures and summary reports/presentations

  • Prepare formulation test articles for preclinical studies

  • Collaborate in a variety of cross-functional team activities to accelerate product development

  • Perform laboratory work following good documentation practice and good chemical hygiene practice

  • Perform safety-related and laboratory organization tasks, as needed

Spiral Therapeutics is a clinical stage startup company with a bold vision: to transform the field of otology by effectively delivering therapies to patients with hearing loss, a largely unmet and impactful clinical need.   Spiral is developing a pipeline of innovative solutions, combining traditional pharmaceutical approaches with drug delivery and medical device technology.

Our team is expanding and we’re looking for highly motivated, candid, collaborative individuals to help drive programs from ideation to clinical realization.  In this fast-paced environment there is an opportunity to wear multiple hats, routinely collaborate across functions, and most importantly impact the lives of patients.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline

  • 2-5 years of wet chemistry experience in research or product development

  • Experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC and UV/VIS spectroscopy, preferably with method development experience.

  • Proficiency with evaluation of complex sets of data using spreadsheets. Additional computational skills is a plus.

  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to plan and execute lab work independently. Good documentation skills.

  • Must be self-motivated and have good interpersonal and communication skills
