ANALYTICAL CHEMIST POSITION AT CAHFS-TOXICOLOGY SECTION

Description:
Under general direction of the supervisor, responsible for the performance of organic and inorganic analyses for the determination of industrial and naturally occurring toxins in animal tissues, biological specimens and source material. The position is responsible for maintaining quality control and participating in the update and development of analytical procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
-A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Knowledgeofsamplepreparationtechniques used for the analysis of organic and/or inorganic chemicals in biological and/or food samples suchassolidphaseand liquid-liquidsampleextraction, acid digestion, sample spikingandmatrixmatching.
-Skillintheoperationofawiderangeofmanualandcomputer- controlledanalyticalequipmentincludingGas Chromatographs,LiquidChromatographs,MassSpectrometers, ICPs, Centrifuges,etc.
-Ability to perform mathematical calculations necessary to prepare chemical solutions at specific concentrations and to calculate concentrations of detected residues in samples.
-Skillstoprepareanalyticalreagents,solutions,controlsandstandards.
-Dataentryskillstoquickly/accuratelyentertestresultsintoa computerizeddatabase.
-KnowledgeofQA/QC concepts andabilitytoapplythisknowledgetocontinuously producehighqualitydata.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience working in a laboratory focused on performing testing for individual clients on a time restricted basis.
-Experience working with animal tissues.
-Experience operating mass spectrometers.
