BioMolecular Resources is a state of the art facility that provides nucleic acid and protein sample management support to Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED).  BMR’s mission is to dynamically develop, manage, and provide diverse biomolecules, in a high-throughput manner, to advance innovative research and drug discovery to benefit patients. 

Our group at Genentech, a client group of Evotec, is seeking a full-time Senior Research Associate to join our team. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with automation, have familiarity with inventory management databases/LIMS and basic molecular biology techniques (DNA purification, sterile technique).  Experience handling and characterizing protein samples would also be a highly desirable skillset.  Experience with standard DNA and protein QC methods (like DNA sequence analysis, concentration analysis, endotoxin measurement, analytical SEC, Mass Spec, etc.) would be preferred. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work as a member of a fast paced, highly integrated team are a must.  

If selected for the position, responsibilities will be to support the team in a variety of library management process that may include working with robotics used to cherry pick, array or archive libraries and support DNA and/or protein production and distribution workflows.  In addition to running established robotics methods you may be asked to learn and make use of our inventory management software and various informatic support platforms.  You will also be involved in performing routine QC of DNA and protein samples as appropriate.  Finally, as a member of the team you will be required to participate in general lab maintenance, be compliant with good EHS practices and participate in all general team responsibilities.

A BS/MS in biology, biochemistry or molecular biology is required.  3-4 years of experience in a chemistry or biology lab/facility is required.  In addition the individual should have some experience with automation and/or compound/biomolecule sample management.  Exposure to Titian’s Mosaic inventory management software and/or Hamilton, Tecan, Hudson, Dynamic Devices and/or Brooks robotics is a plus
