Evotec, www.evotec.com, a drug discovery solutions international organization, offers a range of services to help organizations build, grow, and/or manage resources to the highest quality in support of high throughput biological screening.
Description:
Evotec (US) Inc. has an Associate Scientist position available, located in the Receptor Discovery group at Genentech. The group is dedicated to improving human health by discovering receptor-ligand interactions that play key roles in disease biology. The group uses and develops orthogonal technologies specifically addressing challenges with the elucidation of extracellular protein interactions.
Responsibilities:
This is a lab-based position focused on the study of extracellular protein interactions to support drug target discovery. The successful candidate is expected to combine biochemical and cell biological techniques to find, validate and characterize select interactions. The position is suited for those who enjoy working both independently and collaboratively to support multiple projects across therapeutic areas. The candidate will design and deploy experiments to generate reproducible data that they will present as a part of multidisciplinary teams. They will also contribute to publications on receptor-ligand discovery technology and basic receptor biology.
Qualifications/Experience:
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have most of the following:
-Strong engagement in biological problems related to receptor interactions.
-Strong work ethic and focus necessary to make substantial contributions to our receptor discovery efforts.
-Keen observation skill to catch errors and provide scientific insight.
-Passion for learning and expanding technologies that deal with hard-to-work-with extracellular interactions and membrane proteins.
-Experience with designing and performing experiments that dissect protein-protein interactions using molecular techniques like surface plasmon resonance and biolayer interferometry as well as cell-based techniques like immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence etc.
-Computational skills for the analysis of large datasets. Experience with automation and robotics is a plus.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Education Requirements:
-PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or a related discipline is preferred. Alternatively, MSc with at least 3 years of relevant experience will be considered.
Additional Information about the Position:
Proof of United States citizenship or permanent residency is required.
Evotec is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the work place. We encourage those who identify as someone underrepresented in biotechnology to apply.
