Participate in and perform research and/or development projects as a technical expert and key member of the Hematology group.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serves as Study Director for, performs and appropriately documents GLP and notebook studies.
  • Has independent ability to design, execute, and analyze data from experiments or studies.
  • Notes trends and aberrations in data, identifies problems and suggests/conducts experiments to determine root cause and develop solutions.
  • Develops, validates and implements new assays and/or technologies for project advancement.
  • Prepares protocols, final reports, summaries, etc., necessary for multiple projects
  • Reduces and analyzes highly complex data and presents it to maximize clarity and impact.
  • Serves as a technical expert on project teams, including contribution of ideas, developing plans, execution of the plan, and timely reporting of the results.
  • Serves as technical expert on external collaborations and studies.
  • Maintains laboratory notebooks.
  • Maintains high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature and attendance at scientific meetings.
  • Writes and submits abstracts to national and international conferences and contributes to/authors regulatory submissions and scientific journal articles.
  • Presents internally and at scientific conferences and contributes to scientific publications.
  • Supervises and/or mentors research associates and/or entry level scientists by providing training on methods and techniques and direction on goals.
  • Effectively manages technical scope, controls quality, moves toward successful completion of goals, identifies and controls issues and risks, and communicates key outcomes internally and externally. 
  • Contributes to project progress within his/her scientific discipline.
  • Uses professional concepts and company’s policies and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways
  • Exercises judgment within defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining results
  • Perform other related duties as required

 



Qualifications/Experience:
  • Ph.D. degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 2-5 years of job-related work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, carry out and complete research and/or development projects
  • Experience in developing new methodology and techniques
  • Experience with cell, or molecular biology
  • Must have publications in peer-reviewed journals, or demonstrated ability to independently write reports that address key technical research and development issues
  • Working knowledge of scientific principles of hematology is desired
  • Experience working with blood products, developing assays, or with assays for red blood cells is desired
  • Demonstrates creativity in developing new methodology and techniques, in recognizing and capitalizing on novel findings and/or in finding non-obvious solutions to technical hurdles to achieving their assigned goals
  • Has a track record of writing reports or giving oral presentations that present problems, critical evaluation of relevant literature, adequately described experimental procedures, observations and conclusions.
