Peak Bio is a newly created venture out of the San Francisco Bay Area that will soon reach a critical milestone in our history of going public on NASDAQ. We are seeking scientific and business talent at two of our critical sites that include our center of research excellence in Palo Alto, California and our G&A infrastructure in South Florida.

This is a full-time position based in our Palo Alto, California offices, and reports directly to the Head of Oncology.

This role will be critical in driving the future of our business, demonstrating the ability to work scientifically with a unique business model, working collaboratively amongst other talented scientists who utilize expertise, analytics, creativity and ingenuity to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the identification of novel antibody and ADC therapies
  • Contribute to the identification of novel therapeutic targets
  • Initiate and oversee development of novel monoclonal or humanized antibody programs using hybridoma or B-cell cloning
  • Evaluate antibody/ ADC potency by in vitro cytotoxicity assays (IC50)
  • Evaluate antibody/ ADC binding by flow cytometry and/or Octet
  • Create novel engineered cancer cell lines
  • Produce validation of under-represented or novel antibody targets.
  • Develop relevant CBAs and engineered cell-line models to measure effects of investigational Peak Bio agents.
  • Perform experiments and recommend best modality mAb, bi-specific, or ADC for development for the target
  • Support functions with recommendation in vitro potency, binding data, CBAs
  • Collaborate and work closely with-
    • in vivo team to generate corroborating in vivo validation
    • antibody engineering team to select antibodies of interest
    • chemistry team to develop molecules with bystander activity
    • protein production team for antibodies to various targets
    • bioanalytical team for qualification of free toxin and ADCs
  • Perform data analysis and interpretation using standard methods and software (for e.g., GraphPad Prism, Excel, FloJo, etc.)

 



Qualifications/Experience:

Desired Abilities and Qualifications:

  • PhD. in cell biology or related science with 6+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Working knowledge of current antibody and ADC therapies
  • Experience in developing cell-based assays (CBA) 
  • Advance knowledge of antibody structure and function
  • Experience in qualifying functional monoclonal and/or bi-specific antibodies using CBAs
  • Working knowledge of ADC conjugations and analysis of lysine and cysteine conjugates by chromatography
  • Working knowledge of research-grade antibody/ ADC preps and purity (size exclusion and reverse phase HPLC, isoelectric focusing, HIC)
  • Experience in qualifying functional antibody-drug-conjugates (ADCs) using CBAs
  • Experience with cell culture and maintenance preferred
  • Experience with transfection of cell lines and selection of stable clones preferred
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills
