Description:

Under direction of the supervisor, responsible for the performance of organic analysis for the determination of xenobiotic residues in biological matrices and other specimens. Participate in the update and development of analytical procedures, quality control procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Provide support in other sections of the laboratory as directed by the supervisor.



Qualifications/Experience:

REQUIRED:

  • Experience in sample preparation techniques such as solid phase and liquid-liquid extraction, sample spiking and matrix matching.
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry and skills to critically understand, interpret and perform techniques and procedures for analysis of biological samples as described in the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Skills to ensure accurate chain of custody documentation and legal defensibility of results with attention to detail.
  • Skills in the operation of a wide range of manual and computer-controlled analytical equipment including solid-phase extraction and liquid handling.
  • Skills to maintain laboratory equipment and obtain maximum performance from laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
  • Skills to prepare analytical reagents, solutions, controls and standards.
  • Skills to provide training in analytical techniques and laboratory procedures.

PREFERRED:

  • Background in animal science, pharmacology, biochemistry, chemistry.
  • Experience with automated sample extraction and liquid handling systems.
  • Experience in a high throughput laboratory environment.
  • Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with a wide variety of individuals, including coworkers, clients, and individuals from outside agencies.
